IC 1396 Elephant Trunk Nebula

The Elephant Trunk nebula is a concentration of interstellar gas and is located in the constellation Cepheous. This nebula is approximately 2,400 light years from earth. The nebula gets its name from the concentration of gas located in the upper left quadrant of the picture above. The gas concentration resembles an Elephant Trunk.
